A series of interactive, evidence-based conferences designed to highlight new research and improve treatment in the field of gastroenterology.

Each month, Duke Clinical Research Institute will put on an interactive Gastroenterology Conference to be televised at hospitals across North America through existing satellite networks. We will also present these conferences on the web, where physicians and others can have easy access to the programs in their entirety.

Continuing education credits will be available to viewers. Each conference featured a different visiting speaker, who will present topics of great interest to physicians, fellows, residents, nurses, and clinical support staff.

Each hour-long conference will adhere to a regular format and be case-based. In general, a case will be presented in the first 3 to 5 minutes. The guestspeaker will follow with 40 to 45 minutes of didactic lecture, punctuated by discussion with the host about aspects of the lecture. Each conference will concludewith an 8- to 10-minute question-and-answer session with the live audience. Questions can also be submitted by email or telephone.

Key Objectives

Following participation in this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. discuss new evidence-based diagnostic methods in the field of gastroenterology;
  2. describe new technologies, devices, and strategies of treatment;
  3. apply recent clinical research findings to practice.
